Experimental Research on Emulsification Characteristics of Lubricating Oil in Hydrogen Internal Combustion Engines
The effects of running time, sampling temperature and operating temperature of lubricating oil on the emulsification charac-teristics of lubricating oil were systematically studied on a 4-cylinder DI hydrogen internal combustion engine. The evaporation charac-teristic of lubricating oil with high water content was explored by means of thermogravimetric analysis. The results show that the water content in lubricating oil increases linearly with running time rapidly when the engine operates under the condition with low-temperature oil.The sampling temperature for oil has little effect on the measurement results of water content. The result of thermogravimetric anal-ysis show that the water in the emulsified oil could be evaporated under the heating conditions. The water in the oil with water content of 15%could be completely evaporated within 600 s under 100℃,which indicates that the hydrogen engines could avoid the lubrica-ting oil emulsification through the effective thermal management.
