Research on the Matching Method of Intercooler and Fan for a Certain Type of Aviation Piston Engine
In view of the current research status of the matching method between intercooler and fan of aviation piston engine,taking the intercooling system of a certain type of aviation piston engine as the research object,considering the influence of temperature and air density changes at high altitude on the performance of intercooler and fan,The heat dissipation characteristics of intercooler and fan at different heights were studied by using GT-COOL software,ground test and low pressure test.GT-COOL simulation software is used to build an intercooler model,and the reliability of the simulation model is verified by comparing the test results.Through the method of low pressure experiment,the high altitude environment is simulated,and the actual working condition after matching the intercooler and the fan is tested.The experimental results show that after the intercooler is matched with 300W,500W and 800W fans,the wind speed flowing through the intercooler at 4572m(15000ft)is only 77%,82%and 80%of that at sea level,and the electric power of the fan is only 51%,48%and 46%of that at sea level.The results of the wind speed flowing through the intercooler in the low pressure test are brought into the GT-COOL software to simulate the performance of the intercooler at high altitude.The results show that the inter-cooler matched with 300W and 500W fans can not meet the engine demand at 4572m(15000ft),and the gap is 11%and 2%respec-tively.When matched with the 800W fan,the heat dissipation is 11.5kW at 4572m(15000ft),which is 1.06 times the heat dissipa-tion required by the engine.
