Testing Technology For Brake Wear Particulate Matter:A Review
The emissions of non exhaust particulate matter have exceeded the emissions of vehicle exhaust particulate matter, but the regulations limiting non exhaust emissions are still incomplete. This article summari-zes the test methods and particle size distribution characteristics of brake wear particulate matter emissions. The testing methods for brake wear particles mainly include pin disc method, inertia brake bench method, chassis dy-namometer method, and actual road method.Research has found that the particle size distribution of brake parti-cles does not have typical unified characteristics due to various factors such as brake lining material, brake oper-ating characteristics, braking force, temperature, road conditions, and testing conditions, and has multiple par-ticle size distribution forms such as single peak, double peak, and multi peak.
