The principles of vehicle engine is a compulsory basic course for vehicle engineering and vehicle service en-gineering majors,which plays a key role for students of this major to learn professional courses and engage in related work.This article analyses the characteristics of the automobile engine principle course,and discusses the existing prob-lems in the current teaching,and reforms the course from the aspects of strengthening the construction of ideology and politics,adjusting the teaching content,improving the teaching means,strengthening the practice of the course,perfec-ting the way of the course examination,stimulating the interest of the students,opening the network course and bilingual course and promoting the teaching with scientific research,etc.,so as to optimize the teaching,and to assist the vehicle engineering and automobile service engineering majors to cultivate talents.
