Research and Optimization of Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor Torque Substandard Fault
The sealing mode of the coolant temperature sensor of a certain type of engine is sealed by compos-ite gasket and tightened based on the torque-angle method. The target torque is designed to be 22N·m and the monitoring Angle is limited to 68°.During the trial production of the engine assembly line, the batch tightening torque fails to meet the standard.,the tightening curve shows that the tightening torque of the sensor in the mo-nitoring Angle cannot reach the target torque, resulting in the tightening machine alarm. After torque test and surface pressure test,it is found that the cause of failure is too low friction coefficient of gasket or too large tightening torque.Three optimization schemes are proposed:optimizing the composite gasket, changing to the a-luminum gasket and reducing the installation torque.Through verification, the three schemes can effectively solve the fault of the sensor tightening torque is not up to the standard based on torque-angle method.
