This paper analyzes the importance of improving the thermal efficiency of diesel engine,energy saving and emission reduction,improving economic benefits,focusing on the optimization of combustion process,reducing friction loss,improving heat exchange efficiency,reducing cooling water loss to promote diesel engine technology,andfurther discusses themethod of improving thermalefficiency andits significancefor environmen-tal protection,energy saving and economic development.By setting up a diesel engine test bench,the data of fuel consumption,emission and engine operation parameters under different working conditions are collected.The key factors affecting the thermal efficiency of diesel engines are determined,and the relevant measures to improve the thermal efficiency of diesel engines are put forward,which provides theoretical basis and practical guidance for the design optimization and operation adjustment of diesel engines.
