Methodological Contributions Made by Deng Xiaoping to the Exploration into and Promotion of Modernization with Chinese Characteristics
The Communist Party of China,with Deng Xiaoping as its main representative,played an important role in bridging the past and the future during the process of modernization,making significant methodological contributions to the advancement and expansion of Chinese-style modernization in the new era.Firstly,the combination of adherence to Marx-ism and development of Marxism provides fundamental ideological guidance for Chinese-style modernization.Upholding Marxism as the guiding principle establishes the fundamental value direction for Chinese-style modernization,while devel-oping Marxism with a liberating mindset offers significant innovative space for the theory and practice of Chinese-style modernization.Secondly,combining the adherence to Mao Zedong Thought and the reflection on Mao's mistakes in his later years establishes the political premise for Chinese-style modernization.Adhering to Mao Zedong Thought,especially its strategic thinking and practical exploration regarding modernization,provides important support for the in-depth devel-opment of Chinese-style modernization.At the same time,reflecting on Mao's exploratory mistakes in socialist moderniza-tion during his later years clarifies the groundwork for the deeper advancement of Chinese-style modernization.Third,ad-hering to combining the approach of"crossing the river by feeling the stones"with strengthening top-level design plans a strategic vision for advancing Chinese-style modernization,which help realize an organic unity between pioneering new ex-plorations and grasping objective laws.Fourth,insisting on the combination of drawing on Western civilization with reject-ing"Western centrism"help construct a civilizational concept of Chinese-style modernization.
