Functional outcome of perioperative strong bone capsule combined with exercise therapy for femoral intertrochanteric fracture in the elderly
Objective:To investigate the early functional outcome of perioperative oral strong bone capsule combined progres-sive exercise therapy for osteoporotic femoral intertrochanteric fracture in the elderly. Methods:From January 2019 to Decem-ber 2021,56 elderly patients with osteoporotic femoral intertrochanteric fracture who received surgery were retrospectively analyzed.Among the patients,32 ones treated by perioperative oral strong bone capsules combined progressive exercise thera-py additionally, and the other 24 patients received operation simply,as control group. The pain visual analogue scale,modi-fied Barthel score, bone density, fracture healing time, postoperative weight loading time and the Harris standard of the hip joint of two groups were analyzed and compared. Results:All patients were followed up prospectively for(7.5±1.1)months.From 1 month after surgery, the visual analogue scale, hip Harris score and Barthel score of the treatment group were improved significantly than the control group(all P<0.05),but the difference gradually narrowed and vanished at the last follow-up(P>0.05).Although the complete weight bearing time of treatment group was shorter than that of the control group(P<0.05),there is no difference in fracture healing time(P>0.05).Little loss of femoral neck angle existed in both groups, but had no significant difference(P>0.05).Bone density of treatment group was significantly improved than control group(P<0.05).Conclusion:Osteo-porotic fractures in the elderly, when treated with oral strong bone capsules and combined with progressive exercise therapy, can significantly improve the early clinical efficacy, enhance bone mineral density, and improve the quality of life.
