Impact of Straw Mulching on Soil Temperature Based on Meta-analysis
Straw mulching influences soil temperature, which will consequently affect the growth of crops. In order to quantitatively analyze the effects of straw mulching on soil temperature, databases such as China National Knowledge Infrastructure were searched, and relevant research results were reviewed and integrated. The effects of straw mulching on soil temperature variation were analyzed considering factors such as different regions, types of straw, farming practices, and different time periods. The results showed there was no publication bias in the literature obtained. The overall effect of straw mulching on soil temperature was-22.69%,indicating a decrease in soil temperature due to straw mulching. In the North China and Northeast regions, the soil temperature in areas with straw mulching was significantly lower than in areas without it.In the Northwest region, the change in soil temperature after straw mulching was not significant. With an increase in soil depth(5 cm increments)from 0~30 cm,the soil temperature decreased.Additionally, there was significant seasonal variation in soil temperature across different soil layers.Straw mulching lead to varying degrees of soil temperature reduction in different regions, with different types of straw and farming practices.
