Study on the Cold Resistance of Larvae and Pupae of Obolodiplosis robiniae in Ningxia
The purpose of this study was to investigate whether Obolodiplosis robiniae has the ability to overwinter in Ningxia and to provide a theoretical basis for its integrated pest management.Specimens of O.robiniae were collected outdoors and divided into low-instar larvae, mature larvae, and pupae. The supercooling points and freezing points of these different developmental stages were then determined in the laboratory. Results showed no significant difference in the supercooling points among different replicates of the same developmental stage. However, significant differences were observed among the different stages.Pupae exhibited the highest supercooling and freezing points, with average temperatures of-23.24℃and-20.13℃,respectively.Low-instar larvae had the lowest values, with average temperatures of-27.19℃for the supercooling point and-25.16℃for the freezing point.Based on these results,low-instar larvae demonstrated the strongest cold resistance, followed by mature larvae and pupae.
