Investigation of Eimeria Infection of Zhongwei Goats under Different Seasons and Feeding Modes
Coccidiosis is a common intestinal parasitic protozoan disease in goats, causing dysentery, wasting, anemia, stunted growth, and even death. To investigate the infection of coccidiosis in Zhongwei goats in Ningxia, the number of coccidiosis oocysts and the morphology of coccidiosis species in goat feces across different seasons were measured. The results showed that the intensity of coccidia infection in Zhongwei goats was highest in summer and lower in winter and spring. There was a significant difference in the infection intensity of coccidia between spring and winter, but no significant difference between spring and summer,or between spring and autumn. There was no significant difference in infection intensity between captive and grazing populations. The preliminary morphological identification results showed that there were eight species of Eimeria:E.apsheronica,E.arloingi,E.alijevi,E.caprina,E.caprovina,E.christenseni,E.ninakohlyakimovae,and E.hirci.In summary, this article investigates the infection status of Eimeria in Zhongwei goat breeding grounds in Ningxia across different seasons, and the results can lay a foundation for the prevention and control of Eimeria in Zhongwei goats.
