With the deepening of replacing the local Tusi with appointed officers,the extension of state power and the influx of immigrants,the rural economy of Wuling Mountain area developed greatly in the Ming and Qing dynasties.There were consid-erable improvements in agricultural production techniques,certain adjustment in the agricultural structure,and marked im-provement in the rural handicraft industry,which promoted the commercialization and production of mountain resources,and in-creases in the rural commodity economy.It promoted the expansion of rural market.The development of the rural economy in the Wuling Mountain area during the Ming and Qing dynasties laid good foundations for the development of other industries in the region,and provided historical reference and inspiration for current economic development.
