Based on the review of production and consumption of organic tea worldwide,this paper introduces the produc-tion of organic tea in Darjeeling of India,especially Rajah Banerjee's organic tea planting ideas and his practices in Makaibari garden at Darjeeling,India,and traces back his concepts,including the Rudolf Steiner's biodynamic theory and holistic vision of farming,Mahatma Gandhi's thoughts of self-sufficient,and Dr Masanobu Fukuoka's natural planting ideas etc.Rajah Baner-jee's organic tea planting ideas are full of Indian characteristics,though precious,which are faced with many objective factors.
