Exploration on Droughts and Countermeasures in Liangzhe Area During the Period of Emperor Gaozong's Reign in Southern Song Dynasty
In the period of Emperor Gaozong's reign in Southern Song Dynasty,droughts occurred frequently in Liangzhe area,causing serious losses.In the early Southern Song Dynasty,the central government took economic measures such as rice distribution,tax exemption and grain lending to alleviate the disaster;On the other hand,it took political measures such as re-ducing regular meals,releasing the prisoners,praying for rain and strengthening the assessment of officials to stabilize the social order in the disaster-stricken areas.In addition,the central government also actively mobilized the folk forces in Liangzhe area to participate in the disaster relief.The above measures played an important role in recovering the post-disaster economy in Liangzhe area and restoring the order of people's life.
