Acquisition of Wildlife Resources from the Paleolithic Era in Northeast China and Their Relationships with Natural Environment
The rich variety of wild animal resources during the Paleolithic period in northeast China was an important guar-antee for human sustainable survival and development. This study comprehensively adopts statistical analysis, species composi-tion,natural environment restoration and other methods to investigate the distribution of wildlife resources, natural environment evolution, human hunting strategies, and other aspects. The research results indicate that during the early and middle Paleolithic periods, there were relatively more wild animal resources in lower latitude areas, hilly and plateau types, and mountainous and hilly types;During the late Paleolithic period, there were relatively more wild animal resources in higher latitude areas, river lake terrace types, and hilly and plateau types. From the perspective of the impact of natural environmental changes on the way hu-mans acquired wildlife resources,in the early Paleolithic period, which was generally warm and humid, people tended to hunt large and medium-sized mammals, resulting in lower utilization efficiency; In the cold and dry Middle Paleolithic period,hu-mans changed their hunting strategies and improved their utilization efficiency; In the late Paleolithic period with frequent fluc-tuations in temperature, humans responded to the reduction of wildlife resources in the context of the climate crisis by strength-ening the use of large mammals, innovating stone technology, and expanding hunting targets. At the same time, the extinction process of large mammal populations in the northeast region was accelerated accordingly.
