On the Side Handle Pot in Chinese and Japanese Tea Culture
The side-handle pot is a traditional Chinese vessel,which was introduced into tea in the Tang Dynasty,and its function changed according to the way of drinking tea in various dynasties.In the middle of the 18th century,the side pot was in-troduced into Japan,and with several functional changes,such as tea makers,water makers,tea makers,it became a common teapot style in Japan.This paper reviews the development of the side handle pot in China and Japan,and probes into the reasons for its popularity in Japan by combining the cultural aesthetic and modeling functions.
