The Iron Axe Excavated in the Mausoleum of the First Emperor of Qin
There is a long history of domestic horse breeding in China, but there is a lack of relevant research materials on breeding tools.Through comparisons with relevant literature, stone carvings, and other materials,as well as analysis of the shape, form, tool combinations, and burial condition,it is evident that the iron or bronze tools resembling"axe-halberds"found in the burial pits and accompanying tombs of the Mausoleum of the first emperor of Qin,characterized by their lack of holes,double-edged blades, and the binding around the middle of the tool, should be the"Iron Axe"mentioned in historical records. These were specialized tools of horse breeding used for cutting forage for horses.
