Pauk-phaw Friendship and China-Myanmar Relations in the Transformation Era
Since the beginning of the 21st century,the societies of China and Myanmar have been facing great social transformation.The roles and mutual relations of the two countries in the regional framework are increasingly complicated,and have become important factors affecting regional peace and sustainable development.In this context,this study focuses on the"paukphaw friendship"between China and Myanmar in state discourse and daily practice,combining fieldwork in anthropology with historical documents to elucidate the formation and development of the"paukphaw friendship"between the peoples of the two countries.By analyzing state-building,historical writing,public memory,identity politics,ethnic interactions,cultural exchanges,as well as the mutual relationships between Burmese,Burmese Chinese,and Chinese peo-ple,this paper aims to illustrate the changing and cultural implications of"paukphaw friendship"within a large context of geopolitics and regional dynamics,and to explore the multiple dimensions and significance of the development of China-Myanmar relations in the global era.
