Artificial Intelligence in India:Current Status and Challenges
The Indian government has established a policy framework for artificial intelligence,led by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology and guided by the National Transformation Agency.This framework focuses on data,semiconductors,and telecommunications while building an AI ecosystem.India has notable research achievements and specialized talent,alongside large-scale investments to enhance chip manufacturing and high-performance computing.Traditional businesses are rapidly digitalizing under government initiatives,while startups target niche markets.However,challenges in regulatory frameworks,data management,digital infrastructure,and talent supply hinder AI progress.This paper argues that India will accelerate AI regulation development,seek foreign support,and aim to lead in global AI governance.
