The goal of transforming Panzhihua into a regional metropolitan center of southwestern Sichuan and northwestern Yunnan is a new strategic direction and positioning for the city in the new era.It provide Panzhihua with new economic opportunities,geographic advantages and strategic strengths,while also pla-cing new demands on the development of the Sunshine-Based Health and Wellness Industry.This paper reviews the current research on metropolitan centers as well as health and wellness industries both domesti-cally and internationally,and analyzes the strengths and weaknesses of Panzhihua in its pursuit of becoming a regional metropolitan center.It examines the necessity of accelerating the development of the Sunshine-Based Health and Wellness Industry and discusses the new requirements thus proposed.Accordingly,the paper proposes concrete development pathways for the Sunshine-Based Health and Wellness Industry in Panzhihua.The findings of this study are of significant practical implications for promoting high-quality development of the Sunshine-Based Health and Wellness Industry as Panzhihua progresses toward its goal of becoming a regional metropolitan center of southwestern Sichuan and northwestern Yunnan.
