An Analysis of the Pathways for Achieving Mental Well-Being of Rural Left-Behind Elderly in the New Era
Mental well-being services are provided to meet the needs of the elderly for a better life.The mental well-being of rural left-behind elderly is an effective practice of Chinese filial piety culture and an essential component of the social elderly care service system.It is also an indispensable aspect of impro-ving the quality of their lives.However,the mental well-being of rural left-behind elderly faces a num-ber of challenges,including the decline of filial piety culture,absence of emotional support,insufficient ca-pabilities in supporting themselves,and limited community cultural and recreational activities.Based on the aforementioned predicaments,this paper proposes a realistic path for achieving mental well-being,with the government taking the lead,to establish and improve laws and regulations related to mental well-being services,and to strengthen the rural culture of filial piety.Community support is crucial for enhancing the variety and quality of mental well-being services.Additionally,families should be the primary caregivers,with a focus on individuals,to strengthen children's responsibilities in providing mental support to their parents and improve the capabilities of supporting themselves for the left-behind elderly.Only through col-lective participation and a focus on the mental well-being of rural left-behind elderly can we ensure that they experience a peaceful and contented life in their twilight years.
