On the Value of Neo-Confucian Thought in Constructing Modern Chinese Civilization:Centering on Qian Mu,Tang Junyi and Xu Fuguan
Constructing modern Chinese civilization fundamentally involves cultivating individuals with a modern civilizational character.The development of such individuals is inseparable from the influence and shaping of thought and culture.Neo-Confucian thought,grounded in traditional culture,revives its roots while innovating,elucidating the modern value of traditional culture.It serves as a model for the creative transformation and innovative development of traditional culture,offering significant insights for the con-struction of modern Chinese civilization.This paper focuses on the contributions of Qian Mu in uncovering the spirit of Chinese history,Tang Junyi in explicating Chinese humanistic thought,and Xu Fuguan in pro-moting the sense of concern among traditional Chinese intellectuals.Besides,this paper discusses the im-portance of inheriting excellent historical and cultural traditions,continuing the Chinese humanistic spirit,fostering a sense of concern,and embracing the mission to cultivate a modern civilizational character char-acterized by cultural sentiment and confidence,thereby advancing the development of modern Chinese civi-lization.
