Experimental Research on Permeability Characteristics of Carbon Fiber Three-Dimensional Woven Preform
Aiming at the carbon fiber three-dimensional braided composite material for the aero-engine fan case, the experimental research on the permeability characteristics of the pre-form material has been carried out.The experimental mold was a rectangular hollow struc-ture,and the distance in the thickness direction was adjustable.By analyzing the permeation process of liquid in four kinds of three-dimensional braided preforms with different thickness and porosity, the results show that the in-plane permeation main direction of all preforms is parallel to the axis/transverse direction of the braid, and the axial permeability is about 3.2 times the value of the lateral permeability. The permeability of the liquid in the A preform is the best, and the permeability values in the axial, transverse and thickness directions are 1.136×10-10,4.259×10-11 and 5.900×10-12 m2,respectively.The permeability in the thickness direction is much smaller than the in-plane permeability, and the difference is 1-2 orders of magnitude. The permeation of liquid in three directions in the preform is a process of mutual influence, and the permeation characteristics in the thickness direction of the pre-form affect the permeation characteristics in the plane.
