Adsorption of Methylene Blue by One Marine Bacillus Strain
Bacillus sp.LM-24 with high adsorption capacity for methylene blue was isolated and screened from deep-sea environmental samples. Its adsorption conditions were optimized and immobilized with silica gel and macroporous resin. The optimum concentrations of the three adsorbents were 1.216,3 and 10 g·L-1 respectively. The optimum pH was 9.0,9.0 and 8.5 respectively. The optimum adsorption temperatures were 30,25 and 25℃,and the optimum adsorption times were 0.5,1 and 4 h respectively. The removal rates of 10 mg·L-1 methylene blue were 88%,90%and 99%respectively.Kinetic and isotherm experi-ments show that the three adsorbents have physical and chemical adsorption, and the surface of the immobilized adsorbent is heterogeneous adsorption. The stability of immobilized Ba-cillus sp.LM-24 has improved significantly in acid conditions and high concentration dyes, and it has rapid and stable adsorption on methylene blue solution. The strain can be used as a potential strain for decolorizing azo dyes.
