Study on the Esterification Process of Succinic Anhydride
This paper mainly studied the direct esterification process of succinic anhydride,which not only simplified the PBS production process but also reduced the amount of wastewater and energy consumption.Using succinic anhydride and 1,4-butanediol as raw materials,the effects of reaction time,temperature,acid to alcohol ratio and catalyst type on the esterification reaction were investigated.The products were characterized by FT-IR and gel permeation chromatography(GPC).It was found that the esterification rate could reach 97.8%under the conditions of stannous octanate as catalyst,the amount of succinic anhydride was 1.5%,the molar ratio of 1,4-butanediol to succinic anhydride was 1.7∶1,the temperature was 210℃,the vacuum degree was-0.03 MPa,and the reaction time was 6 h,which met the esterification process requirements in PBS process.
