Applications of Up-conversion Fluorescent Nanomaterials Gd2O3:Yb,Tm,Zn in Photodynamic Antibacterial Therapy
Gd2O3:Yb,Tm,Zn nanoparticles were synthesized by a simple hydrothermal method. The blue fluorescence produced under 980 nm near infrared(NIR)laser irradiation was absorbed by the photosensitizer merocyanine 540(MC540),which activated the photo-sensitive reaction to produce singlet oxygen.By using this principle, antibacterial photody-namic therapy mediated by Gd2O3:Yb,Tm,Zn was achieved, and the killing rate against drug-resistant bacteria E.coli and S.aureus reached 92%and 88%in vitro, respectively.
