In Situ MgAl2O4/Al Composites Prepared by Direct Melt Method and Its Strengthening Mechanism
Using the orthogonal test method, taking pure aluminum as the research object and grain size as the evaluation index. The effects of copper oxide particle size, magnesium content, stirring temperature and copper oxide content on refining effect of in-situ synthe-sized magnesium aluminum spinel were studied. The results show that the order of the fac-tors affecting the grain refinement from large to small is magnesium content, copper oxide particle size, stirring temperature, copper oxide content. The optimum process parameter is copper oxide particle size 5 μm,magnesium mass content 1%,stirring temperature 675℃,copper oxide content 0.15%;at this point, the size of grain can be refined to 44 μm,the ulti-mate tensile strength, elongation and modulus of elasticity were increased from 84.1 MPa,14.2%and 3 497 MPa of the original sample to 101.2 MPa,18.3%and 4 085 MPa,respec-tively.
