Effect of Carbon Black Particle Size on Low Temperature Properties of Different Rubbers(Ⅱ)
In this study, four kinds of rubber, natural rubber(NR),nitrile rubber(NBR),ethylene propylene diene monomer(EPDM),and acrylate rubber containing active chlorine(ACM),which had different polarity and saturation, were selected as the base rubber, and 30 parts of carbon black N774,N550 and N234 of different particle sizes were filled respec-tively,and the low-temperature performance of various rubbers filled with different carbon black particle sizes was characterized by using differential scanning calorimeter(DSC),low-temperature retraction testing machine and low-temperature brittleness testing machine. The low temperature performance characterized by the three test instruments is the glass transition temperature(Tg),the 10%retraction corresponding temperature(TR10)and the brittle temperature(Tb).The results showed that the Tg of polar rubber NBR and ACM under different carbon black particle sizes was large, and the Tg change of non-polar rubber NR and EPDM was small, which was positively correlated with the content of binding rub-ber.Although there are saturation differences between NBR and ACM,the Tg change am-plitude of the two is similar, and the Tg change amplitude between NR and EPDM is also similar, and the saturation of rubber has no correlation with the effect of rubber Tg.Carbon black particle size has a weak effect on TR10 of rubber with different structures. The Tb of polar rubber is more susceptible to the influence of carbon black particle size, and there is no obvious correlation between the change law of Tb and the saturation difference of rubber.
