Preparation and performance analysis of high-strength and low-alkali mortar coating for GFRP bars
High-strength and low-alkali mortar coating for glass fiber reinforced polymer(GFRP)bars was prepared using mineral admixture. The alkali resistance,pH value,com-pressive strength, flexural strength and micro-component of the coatings were measured, and the effects of the different contents of mineral admixture and different amounts of ce-mentitious materials on the pH value, flexural strength and compressive strength of the coatings were analyzed. The test results showed that the coating had good alkali resistance, and phenomena like spalling and loss of adhesion did not occur in the alkali resistance test. The ratios of 250 kg/m3 of cementitious material,40%of cement and 60%of silica fume were most suitable for the GFRP bars'surface mortar coating. The mortar coating's pH value decreased with the increase of the content of mineral admixture, and the flexural and compressive strength of the mortar showed a trend of increasing and then decreasing with the increase of the content of single silica fume, and decreased with the increase of the content of compound fly ash. When the age reached 28 days, there were still unreacted SiO2 and sili-cate in the mortar coating, which can react with the concrete poured on the GFRP bar sur-face later, thereby improving the bond strength between the GFRP bar and concrete.
