Traditional Dwellings of the Dong Ethnic Group from the Perspective of Cultural Anthropology
The Dong ethnic group primarily resides in southwest China, characterized by unique histor-ical and cultural features such as natural landscapes, environmental symbolism, and spiritual spaces.Due to the absence of written records and architectural drawings, researching the social and cultural contexts of village dwellings has always been a challenge. This paper reevaluates the traditional dwell-ings in Dong villages through the lens of cultural anthropology to explore the cultural information and implications embedded in spatial arrangements. This approach helps us comprehend the origins of ar-chitectural forms, trace the relationships between architectural language, natural surroundings, and so-cietal practices, offering contemporary insights and significance.
