An Attributive Analysis of the Rise of the Maintenance Bilingual Education in Inhabited Areas of the Ethnic Minorities with Small Populations:A Case Study of Yugur Inhabited Area
There are various types of bilingual education in ethnic minority areas in China,but they can be roughly divided into transitional bilingual education and maintenance bilingual education.In re-cent years,bilingual education in the areas of ethnic minorities with small populations belongs to main-tenance bilingual education.Through the case study of the constant observation method of educational anthropology,this paper analyzes the causes of the rise of such bilingual education,which is helpful to understand the research,practice and policy related to education in ethnic minority areas.Based on the case study of Yugur inhabited areas,it is found that there are two main reasons for the rise of main-taining bilingual education in the areas of ethnic minorities with small populations,namely:(1)the main reasons outside the education system are at least the endangered ethnic language and traditional culture,the anxiety of ethnicity,and the background of overlying implementation of practical strategy space for social actors in relevant policies;(2)the main reasons in the education system are at least the vigorous rise of school based curriculum development and the strong promotion of ethnic cultural elites.In addition,from the current experience and situational analysis of China,"improving differen-tiated regional policy"can be regarded as the basic orientation and leading logic of bilingual education policy in ethnic minority areas in the New Era.
