The expression form of Chinese drama has always been based on"comedy"as the main tone.The creation and performance of tragedy are still relatively weak in various local drama genres,including Beijing,Kunming,Yue,Yu,Bang,Ping and other major domestic drama genres.The pop-ular"Puxian Opera"in the area of Putian City,Fujian Province,has an audience of only about five million people.However,in the past 70 years,generation after generation of Puxian Opera practition-ers have persistently explored the tragic expressions of Puxian Opera and achieved remarkable results.The diversified exploration of the tragedy in Puxian opera reflects strong social criticism,as well as prominent features such as promoting excellent traditional moral values and praising pure and selfless views on romantic relationships between men and women.The continuous exploration and practice of Puxian opera tragedy can be regarded as an important benchmark in the development history of Chinese tragedy.
