Multifaceted Evidence of Ethnic Interactions,Exchanges,and Integration in the Qingshuijiang Basin:A Preface toThe Qingshuijiang Manuscripts of Guizhou:Jianhe Manuscripts
The Jianhe County Archives houses nearly 20,000 contractual documents,which form a sig-nificant part of the Qingshuijiang Manuscripts.Historically,Jianhe County was designated as a"fron-tier Miao territory,"making its contractual documents and other folk historical records distinctively characterized by the interactions,exchanges,and integration among ethnic groups,particularly when compared to areas downstream of the Qingshuijiang,such as Tianzhu and Jinping.Both the chronologi-cal context and the content of these documents present a vivid picture of ethnic interactions,exchan-ges,and integration.Furthermore,the historical and practical value of these manuscripts will become increasingly apparent as they are published.
