The Essential Interpretations of Xunzi's Somaesthetics:"Qu","Xing","Ti","Shen"
Xunzi is a masterpiece of pre-Qin Confucianism, and its abundant ideological resources include the frequent expression of body aesthetics, one of which is the widely discussed"cultivating oneself with etiquette"in academia.Due to the complexity of ancient Chinese system and the obscuration of modern Chinese vision, the academic circles often use the word"body"to make a general interpretation of the four words"Qu","Xing","Ti"and"Shen",which obscure the different body meanings revealed by it.After a careful reading of Xunzi,we can find that"Qu"points to the solid existence of the body, which is against Xunzi's aesthetic standard;"Xing"initially involves the aesthetic dimension, pointing to the image function of the body;"Ti"is related to the ability to receive two kinds of body faces, which is the practical effectiveness of the body;"Shen"is Xunzi's most ideal body word, and it achieves its quasi-life belonging through the education of ritual and righteousness.
