摘要
校训是大学的文化名片,蕴含着大学的办学宗旨,彰显出大学追求的文化价值.哈佛大学的"真理"校训经过三任哈佛校长的阐述与诠释后内涵正朝着应然的方向发展.普林斯顿大学有关"上帝力量"的校训在两位美国总统校友的隔空呼应之下走上了"服务国家,服务人类"的新轨道.帝国理工学院富含殖民主义标签的校训在源自美国"黑人的命也是命"的反种族主义浪潮中,被校方果断而迅速地弃之一隅.
Abstract
University mottoes serve as cultural signatures that encapsulate the institution's educa-tional philosophy and the cultural values it aspires to promote.Harvard University's motto of"Veri-tas"(Truth)has evolved significantly through interpretations by three of its presidents,moving to-wards a more ideal representation of its foundational principles.Princeton University's initial motto fo-cusing on"God's Power"has,influenced by the legacies of two U.S.Presidents who were alumni,transitioned to emphasize a commitment to"service to the nation and humanity."Imperial College's o-riginal motto,which carried connotations of colonialism,was decisively abandoned in response to the global anti-racism movements sparked by"Black Lives Matter"in the United States.
