Chinese Cultural Identity in the Epitaph of Peng Shiqi in the Ming Dynasty
The inscription on the Epitaph of Peng Shiqi of Yongshun Tusi in the Ming Dynasty is an expression of Chinese cultural identity in a variety of ways,such as using the traditional moral thinking of Confucianism as a guideline for personal cultivation,using Confucian values to take a name,as well as pursuing the spirituality of the literati and elegant scholars.The formation of the epitaph mainly benefited from the cultural and educational thoughts of the Ming Court,the imperial court's appeal and the development of mind.In essence,the cultural identity of Yongshun Tusi in Ming Dynasty was the effective governance of local areas by the central Dynasty and the continuous extension of state power to the border area.It was also an effective means for Yongshun Tusi to gain the legitimacy of political identity and establish authority within the Tusi,which was conducive to the construction of the pluralistic and integrated pattern of the Chinese nation and objectively promoted the historical process of the joint creation of Chinese national culture by all ethnic groups in western Hunan.
