Study on the Mechanism of Digital Empowerment to Prevent Re-poverty among Farmers and Herders in the Qinghai-Xizang Plateau--Evidence from 1030 Low-income Households in Qinghai
Based on the research data of 1,030 low-income farmers and herdsmen families in 36 townships(towns)of 15 counties(cities)in 8 cities(prefectures)in Qinghai province in 2022,a multiple regression model was constructed to investigate the mechanism of digitization empowering farmers and herdsmen in the Qinghai-Xizang Plateau in preventing the return to poverty.The study found as follows.First,the level of digitalization has a significant positive role in preventing poverty among low-income farmers and herders in Qinghai province,and the role of preventing poverty among zang farmers and herders is significantly lower than that of non-Zang farmers and herders,and the role of preventing poverty among farmers and herders with stronger language skills is significantly higher than those with weaker language skills.Second,the level of digital application,their own motivation to get out of poverty has a significant moderating effect on the relationship between digitalization level and preventing low-income farmers and herdsmen in Qinghai province;Third,the cultural level of the labour force,the capacity for family financing,and the strength of government support exerts a considerable partial mediating effect on the relationship between the digitalization level and poverty among low-income farmers and herdsmen in Qinghai province.Fourth,the differences in the empowering effect of digitalization level on the prevention of return to poverty of farmers and herdsmen at different levels of development and spatial locations are significant.
