The rich studies on the Pu people have always attracted considerable debate.Taking the holistic view as a methodological guide to systematically grasp their literature system helps enlighten the overall and fundamental aspects of the Pu people issue,and aids in presenting a complete understanding of their ori-gins,development,and historical structure.In the context of the new era,looking beyond the traditional framework of topics,the history of the Pu people as a"process type"in Chinese ethnic history carries valu-able theoretical significance in terms of its constant self-renewal.
