Objective To study the mental health status of medical graduate students and their preferences for psycho-logical support and education,to promote the development of mental health education for medical graduate students in medical schools.Methods A questionnaire survey was conducted in May 2023 among 90 medical graduate students ma-joring in medicine in Zhejiang Province.The survey included assessments of psychological states and their influences,ex-periences,willingness for psychological counseling,and preferences for mental health education and support.Results A total of 83 valid questionnaires were collected.The survey results showed that 17(20.48%)medical graduate students re-ported poor psychological states,and only 23(27.71%)students believed that their mental health was valued by the school.The survey also revealed that 43(51.80%)students preferred face-to-face communication,and 65(78.13%)stu-dents were willing to choose on-campus psychological counseling.Additionally,34(40.96%)medical graduate students were willing to actively participate in training or workshops provided by the school in the field of mental health,and 42(50.60%)students indicated that they would consider participating.The most popular types of psychological support ser-vices were the professional psychological counseling provided by the school(53,63.86%),followed by providing online resources or self-help manuals(41,49.40%),establishing mental health support institutions(35,42.17%),and offering mental health courses ranking fourth(33,39.76%).Conclusion The mental health status of medical graduate students is not sufficiently valued by the school,and there is a significant gap in psychological support and education.Providing on-campus training courses and mental health counselors will effectively promote the mental health status of medical graduate students.
