Influence of Plant Arrangement on the Characteristics of Direct Air Cooled Condenser under Natural Draft of Steel Tower
Using the numerical heat transfer(NHT)software FLUENT,the flow and thermal characteristics of direct air-cooled condenser(DACC)installed horizontally inside aluminum-clad steel structured cooling tower under natural draft for a 2×350MW unit is simulated, analyzed and researched.Under performance assessment condition, the influence of different wind directions and building configurations on the airflow rate and heat transfer rate of DACC in the dry cooling aluminum-clad steel tower are determined. The results show under two units with one tower configuration, winds parallel with turbine A column have negative effect on tower draft and DACC heat exchange when DACC is horizontal rectangular arranged inside the tower.Without consideration of wind direction frequency, the total difference on heat transfer among three DACC schemes is within 2.4%under all wind directions. As for the plant layout,it is recommended that local prevailing wind direction should be avoided the unfavorable wind directions. The distance between turbine house and cooling tower should be determined according to other engineering factors.
