Hoisting and Unloading Plan of Large Steel Box Girder Segments over Anchorages of Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link and Spreader Design
The non-navigable bridges in the east and west flood diversion zones of Lingdingyang Bridge of Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link are continuous steel box girder bridges with spans of 110 m.The installation of 20 large steel box girder segments in two spans over the offshore anchorages of Lingdangyang Bridge, including four 86.1 m-long segments weighing 1 097 t each, and sixteen 110 m-long segments weighing 1 408 t each, was challenging, due to the ahead-of-schedule closure of the Zhongshan Bridge and the navigation clearance limitation. The segments should be shipped from the jetties owned by the Wuchang Shipbuilding Industry Group Co.,Ltd.in Zhongshan City to the jetties owned by the China Railway South Investment Group Co.,Ltd.,afterwards,unloaded and transferred to the locations for installation by Crane Tianyi which is capable of transporting and installing girders.Customized hoisting and unloading plans for the large steel box girder segments and spreaders were developed to accommodate the two 2 000 t-capacity gantry cranes.Three hoisting plans were compared, including the single hook and single segment plan,double-hook and single segment plan, and double-hook and double-segment plan. The double-hook and double-segment plan was selected, considering the economy and ease-of-operation.Four sets of spreaders were used, each consisting of primary components of spreaders, pins, pulleys, rope coilers and shackles. The 86.1 m and 110 m-long segments are fitted with 12 and 16 hoisting points, respectively, with 4 under each spreader. The numerical simulation was carried out in MIDAS software to analyze the mechanical properties of the steel box girder segment, spreader and connecting components. It is shown that the load bearing capacities of the steel box girder segments, lifting lugs and bolts in the steel box girder segments, spreaders,as well as lifting lugs and pins in spreaders met the requirements. The hoisting and unloading of the 20 large steel box girder segments was carried out smoothly.
