The main bridge of Gujin Chishui River Bridge is a two-pylon cable-stayed bridge of a semi-floating system.Arranged in spans(83.5+173.5+575+173.5+83.5)m,the superstructure consists of steel I girders and concrete panels and measures 43.8 m in full length, with skirt boards for vortex-induced vibration suppression.Supported by rock-embedded piles, the pylons are A-shaped structures rising 217 and 261 m,featuring the inwardly-inclined legs. The designers gave up pylon piers and allowed the pylons to have very long legs,to maximize the landscaping effect. The steel anchor beams in the cable-pylon anchorage zones are made of weathering steel to reduce future maintenance. The corbels of steel anchor beams are connected with pylon walls mainly via PBL connectors to avoid load bearing capacity loss under uplift forces. The stay cables are composed of steel strands with nominal diameter and tensile strength of 15.20 mm and 1 860 MPa,respectively. The total 184 stay cables(4×23)are fanned out in spatial double cable planes.Fully built-in dampers, instead of the combined utilization of anchor plates and external dampers, are installed out of aesthetic consideration.
