COMPARISON OF THREE SURGICAL METHODS IN THE TREATMENT OF PELVIC ORGAN PROLAPSE
Objective To compare clinical efficacy of three different surgical treatments for pelvic organ prolapse (POP).Methods From February,2013 to March,2015,156 patients with POP received surgery in our hospital.Among them,72 under went total hysterectomy combined with anterior and posterior vaginal wall repair (Repair group),39 received the whole pelvic floor reconstruction via mesh placement (Mesh group) and 45 underwent laparoscopic hysterectomy combined with vaginal suspension (Suspension group).A comparison between the three groups was carried out in terms of the following items:operation time,blood loss at surgery,postoperative exhaust time,days of indwelling urinary catheter,length of hospital stay,hospitalization expenses and quality of life after surgery.Results The differences in operation time,blood loss at surgery,days of indwelling urinary catheter,length of hospital stay,hospitalization expenses and quality of live one year after surgery were significant (F=3.304-73.283,P<0.05),while the difference in post-operative exhaust time between the three groups was not significant (P >0.05).Conclusion The three operative procedures for pelvic organ prolapse have good clinical effect with each has its advantages,clinical application should be selected based on preoperative assessment and individual choice.
