DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT OF SMALL-CELL LUNG CANCER WITH NASOPHARYNGEAL METASTASIS: A CASE REPORT
Objective To investigate the strategies for the diagnosis and treatment of small-cell lung cancer with nasopharyngeal metastasis. Methods A 39-year-old male with small-cell lung cancer with nasopharyngeal metastasis confirmed by computed tomography and lung biopsy was enrolled, and was given 8 cycles of etoposide+cisplatin (EP) chemotherapy combined with conformal radiotherapy for the lung and nasopharynx, and then the clinical data were collected to evaluate his clinical outcome.Resnlts After 8 cycles of EP chemotherapy combined with conformal radiotherapy for the lung and nasopharynx, the patient showed significantly reduced cough and nasal congestion, had no bloody nose, and achieved partial response (PR).The patient is alive now, without recurrence. Conclusion The patient with small-cell lung cancer with nasopharyngeal metastasis can achieve PR after a combination of chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
