RISK FACTORS FOR VENTILATIOR-ASSOCITATED PNEUMONIA IN THE INTENSIVE CARE UNIT
Objective To investigate the risk factors for ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP) in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and related nursing strategies. Methods A total of 105 patients who underwent mechanical ventilation in the ICU in our hospital from January 2014 to December 2016 were enrolled, and the risk factors for VAP were analyzed. Results Of all patients,46 developed VAP and 59 did not develop VAP.There were significant differences between the two groups in duration of mechanical ventilation, duration of ICU admission,APACHE Ⅱ score, neurological function score, and use of glucocorticoids (t'=3.88,t=2.45-2.84,x2=9.76,P<0.05).Conclusion The risk factors for VAP in patients admitted to the ICU should be taken seriously in clinical practice, and related measures should be adopted to reduce the incidence of VAP.
