CT AND MRI FINDINGS OF PRIMARY 1NTRAOSSEOUS MENINGOTHELIAL MENINGIOMA OF FRONTO-PARIETAL BONE
Objective To investigate the computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) findings of primary intraosseous meningothelial meningioma of the fronto-parietal bone. Methods A retrospective analysis was performed on the CT and MRI findings of 6 patients with pathologically confirmed primary intraosseous meningioma of the fronto-parietal bone. And then a comprehensive analysis was performed on the tumors based on the imaging findings, pathological features, and related literature review. Results The pathological examination showed that the tumors of all the 6 cases were meningothelial meningioma WHO Ⅰ;all the lesions were solitary and located in the fronto-parietal bone showing expansive growth.Plain CT scan showed a high and homogeneous density;MRI showed isointensity on T1-weighted and T2-weighted images;contrast-enhanced CTscan showed homogeneous enhancement. The adjacent meninges were pushed, thickening, and obviously enhanced in 5 cases, and dural tail sign was observed in 4 cases. Conclusion Benign primary intraosseous meningothelial meningioma of the fronto-parietal bone shows no specific manifestations in CT and MRI findings,so the final diagnosis should be confirmed by histopathological and immunohistochemical examinations.
