INVESTIGATION OF COMPLIANCE WITH ANTIPLATELET THERAPY AMONG PATIENTS WITH ISCHEMIC STROKE IN A SECONDARY GENERAL HOSPITAL IN SHANGHAI, CHINA
Objective To investigate the compliance with antiplatelet therapy and its influencing factors in patients with ischemic stroke and determine the important types of noncompliance, and to guide the interventions for focus groups and key behaviors. Methods A compliance questionnaire survey was conducted in 106 patients with ischemic stroke in a secondary general hospital in Shanghai,China. The compliance status of ischemic stroke patients receiving antiplatelet therapy and its influencing factors were analyzed. Results Among the 106 patients with ischemic stroke, the mean score of compliant behavior scale was 33.75±0.39,with the highest score (3.89±0.50) for "receiving the traditional Chinese medicines or other folk therapies for cerebral infarction or complications" and the lowest score (2.25±0.23) for "forgetting to take drugs".The factors influencing the compliance of patients included sex, educational level, job status, spouse, living condition, course of cerebral infarction, chronic diseases, times of hospitalization, and further consultation on time. Conclusion The compliance with antiplatelet therapy in patients with ischemic stroke needs to be improved.Personalized interventions should be performed for less educated patients, male patients, solitary patients, and on-the-job patients, and the knowledge of antiplatelet therapy should be popularized to help patients take drugs regularly. In addition,we should establish a medication reminder mechanism and a family support supervision system to reduce the noncompliance with antiplatelet therapy in patients with ischemic stroke.
