EFFECTS OF SOLUTION-FOCUSED APPROACH COMBINED WITH MINDFULNESS INTERVENTION ON CANCER-RELATED FATIGUE AND SLEEP QUALITY IN PATIENTS WITH GASTRIC CANCER
Objective To investigate the effects of solution-focused approach combined with mindfulness intervention on cancer-related fatigue and sleep quality in patients with gastric cancer. Methods A total of 120 patients who had undergone surgery for gastric cancer were equally and randomly divided into control group and observation group. The control group was given routine nursing, while the observation group was given solution-focused approach combined with mindfulness intervention under the guidance of specially trained researclhers in addition to the routine nursing. The cancer-related fatigue and sleep quality of all pa tients were assessed by the modified self-rating fatigue scale and the sleep quality scale, respectively, before intervention and after 6 months of intervention. Results After 6 months of intervention,58 patients in the control group and 57 patients in the observation group completed all scheduled procedures. The observation group had significantly lower total score and score of each item in the modified self-rating fatigue scale than the control group (t =2.488-4.084,P <0.05).And the observation group had significantly higher total score of sleep quality and scores of sleep latency, nighttime awaking, early awaking, total sleep time, total sleep quality, daytime mood, daytime physical function, and daytime sleepiness than the control group (t =6.154-13.781,P<0.05).Conclusion Solution-focused approach combined with mindfulness intervention can effectively improve the cancer-related fatigue and sleep quality of patients with gastric cancer after surgery. It holds promise for application in clinical nursing.
