The Impacts of Child Participation on Prosocial Tendencies
Regarding current construction of child-friendly cities in China,its important mission is to promote the children's overall participation and integration of urban social life,and facilitate the growth of children.Under this background,examining the impacts of child participation on their prosocial tendencies could deepen theoretical studies and practical exploration of advancing children's socialization development through social participation.Through the analysis of 5654 questionnaires in 7 cities in China,this study finds that rich participation behaviors and adequate participation support could significantly promote the development of children's prosocial tendencies.Further analysis reveals that community child-friendliness would act as significant moderating effects in the impacts of child participation on prosocial tendencies;when community child-friendliness increases,the impacts of child participation on their prosocial tendencies would become greater.These findings could provide credible evidences to advocate for child participation and cultivate their prosocial tendencies,and also provide policy implications for establishing and perfecting long-term mechanism regarding child participation.
