The Impacts of Extracurricular Interest Classes Participation on Junior High School Students'Academic Performance
Based on the relevant data from two phases of"China Education Panel Survey",this article analyzes the impacts of extracurricular interest classes participation on junior high school students'academic performance.According to the findings,without considering heterogeneity effect,participation in extracurricular interest classes has no significant impacts on junior high school students'academic performance;however,for junior high school students with lower possibility of participation in extracurricular interest classes,participation in extracurricular interest classes has significant negative impacts on their academic performance;while for other junior high school students,participation in extracurricular interest classes does not affecttheir academic performance.For junior high school students from disadvantaged family backgrounds,they are more likely to experience a decline in academic performance;if they attempt to cultivate cultural capital and non-cognitive abilities through extracurricular interest classes participation.
